Help More People to Access the Countryside

We receive a steady stream of messages from users of Countryside Mobility sharing how being able access the countryside has made a difference to them. Perhaps, you or one of your friends or family, has experienced this for themselves.

Countryside Mobility is an initiative of the disability charity, Living Options Devon, and the support we receive through donations makes a real difference to what we can make possible. In the last year over 3,000 people were able to benefit from using the scheme (along with their friends and family) and we hope to continue increasing this year on year.

We'd love you to be a part of helping to increase and maintain these opportunities:

  • Increasing Opportunities - The most consistent feedback we receive from users is 'more Trampers' and 'more locations', and as funding becomes available this is our main focus. In the last year we've been able to add a number of new hire locations for people to enjoy exploring with friends and family or second Trampers at existing hire locations.
  • Maintaining Opportunities - With the scheme running since 2010 we have some Trampers that have been running for over 8 years. Thankfully, they are well-designed and can have parts replaced rather than needing to replace the whole scooter. Nonetheless one of our greatest financial challenges is to cover the repair and refurbishment bill as this is a less attractive prospect for funders despite it being essential for maintaining our current range of hire sites.
  • Promoting Opportunities - We'd love more people to know about the opportunities provided by the scheme but try to keep the membership fees to a minimum which means we only have limited resources for promotion beyond the website and social media. We know that many of our users prefer paper-based materials but this has an added cost for printing and posting so this is another important area in which donations can make a real difference.

Why not consider making a donation to allow more people enjoy exploring the South West's most beautiful locations?

 Gifts in Memory

Many people discover Countryside Mobility in the later years of their life. We receive regular messages from families saying how precious these times together in the countryside have been. One way of remembering this is to make a gift in memory of a loved one who used Countryside Mobility.

In the last year we've had people choose a number of different ways to do this from supporting the cost of a new Tramper through to helping others be aware of the opportunities of the scheme. If there is a particular hire location which was special then we will try to relate the support accordingly and would be happy to discuss the options with you.
