Arne is the RSPB's flagship heathland site, with a vast expanse of open heathland and old oak woodland, and a variety of special wildlife to see including dragonflies, sand lizards, ospreys, Dartford warblers and nightjars. Poole Harbour is next to the reserve, home to winter waders and wildfowl, including the largest wintering population of avocets in the UK.
There are two nature trails to explore as part of this vast expanse of open heathland and old oak woodland. There is plenty to see all year round, with beautiful views across Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle, and the Purbeck Hills.
