Heritage Ability has just added its nineteenth heritage place, RSPB Arne, to its list of locations.
RSPB Arne is a vast expanse of open heathland and old oak woodland, close to Wareham in Dorset with a fantastic view overlooking Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle and the Purbeck Hills. It is a haven for wildlife to see, with thousands of wading birds, ducks and geese including avocets, black-tailed godwits, brent geese and opspreys.
Beki Williams, speaking for the RSPB in Dorset said: “We’re delighted to be working with the Heritage Ablility team at Living Options Devon. Using their skills and experience we can really develop the offer at RSPB Arne so that people of all abilities are able to enjoy the fantastic wildlife and landscapes of the reserve.”
The reserve already boasts one all-terrain scooter, delivered by the Countryside Mobility scheme which is another Living Options Devon project. Heritage Ability will be working with the team over the next 3 years to help them further their accessibility so this special place can be enjoyed by everyone.
