Forest of Dean, Symond’s Yat Rock – Forest Holidays

Pick up the all-terrain Tramper from the cycle hire centre at Forest Holidays and then enjoy the tranquility and nature of the surrounding woodland.

One waymarked route leads to the popular Symond’s Yat Rock which offers one of the best views in the West of England. The panoramic vista across the Wye Valley also provides the opportunity to spot birds of prey, including what the RSPB considers one of the best places to watch Peregrine falcons (from April to August). Volunteers are often on hand to help get the most of the birdwatching opportunities. Distance – 4.5 miles.

A second short forest walk (lasting around half an hour) stays close to the Forest Holidays accommodation complex providing a short introduction to the Tramper and the beauty of the Forest.

The Forest Retreat reception building offers information on the local area, a shop and small cafe for refreshements before or after your walk.
