About us and Our Disability Mobility Scheme

About us

Countryside Mobility South West (CMSW) is a scheme working to improve access to the countryside for people with limited mobility living in and visiting the South West region.

The scheme is operated by Living Options Devon (LOD), a charitable organisation (1102489) that exists to ensure people with disabilities and Deaf people can make an active and equal contribution in society. For more information visit www.livingoptions.org.

Countryside Mobility works with partners who hire out our Tramper mobility scooters and wheelchair accessible Wheelyboats at locations across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Somerset to enable people with limited mobility to gain access to the countryside.

CMSW Staff undertake safety assessments and Disability Access Audits at each site, aided by two access auditors, Yvonne and Nevil, who have first hand experience of living with a physical disability.

The scheme is being supported with a grant from Natural England as part of its Access to Nature programme, funded from the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme. To learn more about Countryside Mobility South West, please explore our website:
